For rallying like cid498 said. However in an effort to shave every spare pound off my 93 hardtop i have decided to remove the whole ac system. Ok its for looks and for some of the cars its got their functions midengine uses it for air intake since their engine does not get enough air from the back not like front engines do they put theirs on the roof or sometimes you see them on the sides nsx and mr2 got them customized. For rally cars a hood scoop is used to create high air pressure in the cab of the vehicle to help reduce dust from entering and improve visibility.

What are roof scoops for. The large roof scoops used on world rally cars and race cars are usually there to provide fresh air for the driver. Not sure if it would work on my application since the scoop seems to be purpose built to only work in light rain at most at drift events. The roof scoop is unlike any other roofing ventilation. Anyone has idea. After all most race cars use plastic windows sealed against the doors and air conditioning isn t an option. It is a complete system which creates cross ventilation within the roof space.
