Roof Gable End Board

It is a term that describes the slanted sides of a gable end.

Now comes the really really big point. A composite decking made of solid materials it resembles real wood and particularly strong and stable for bearing heavy load. Line up the top of the ridge board between the supports with the tops of the rafters.

It is a waterproofing layer made of regular felt stacked above the solid. I prefer to install the gable drip edge under the felt though that detail is less critical than at the lower roof edge or eaves. The rake can be smooth without the overhang or it can lift the gable end like an eave. After that you should fix the cornice board to the end sides of the ridge and the load bearing beams.

Use 3 nails per rafter so they are completely secured. They may be mounted flash on the end wall or stood off on an overhanging framework with a soffit underneath. Use larger rake boards such as 1 by 4 inch and 1 by 6 inch when there isn t an eave overhang on the gable end.
